Veteran Aid and Attendance Program

V.I.P. Benefit Services of America assists elder care professionals, facilities and other interested parties in obtaining this valuable pension for qualified Veterans who are homebound, in need assistance with their daily care needs and meet the financial eligibility requirements. V.I.P. Benefit Services of America offers a comprehensive government benefit and long term care assessment and plan which includes all available government programs. We also provide information to Veterans on how to obtain FREE assistance through other agencies to apply for this pension. By law, we can only provide this assistance to third parties, not directly to the Veteran. Non- service connected pensions for wartime Veterans and their Widows are a well kept secret. The Pension with Aid and Attendance is designed to financially assist aging, low asset and low income homebound Veterans and their un-remarried Veterans’ Widows who require home health care givers on a continuous basis OR who reside in Assisted Living Facilities AND meet all the eligibility criteria. The Basic Qualifications Include:

Wartime Service With Honorable Discharge

Applicant must provide proof of at least one day of active duty during VA designated wartime. The wartimes are:

  • World War II – Dec. 7, 1941 – Dec. 31, 1946 (extended to July 1947 in some cases)
  • Korean War – Jun. 27, 1950 - Jan. 31, 1955
  • Vietnam War – Feb. 28,1961- May 7, 1975 ( 1961-1964 if served in USA)
  • Gulf War – Aug. 2, 1990 – present time

    A VA form DD214 service record is required

Assets

For single Applicants, total assets must be less than $50,000.00.
Married Applicants must have less than $80,000.00 in assets.
This amount does not include home equity and one automobile.
Complete list of marital assets must be provided.

Income Limits For VA Pension with Aid and Attendance

Income is defined as the total amount received from all income sources (before Medicare premiums and other deductions) MINUS the total countable medical expenses.
Qualifying medical expenses may be deducted from current income to help meet income eligibility requirements.
Medical expenses include but are not limited to assisted living rent, home health care costs, health insurance premiums, co-pays, etc.

  • Single Veterans may not receive more than $19,736 in gross income per year. The maximum pension amount they will receive is $1,644/month.
  • Married Veterans may not receive more than $23,396 in gross income per year. The maximum pension they will receive is $1,949/month.
  • Veterans’ Widows/Widowers (who never re-married) may not receive more than $12,681 in gross income per year. The maximum pension they will receive is $1,056/month.

Medical Eligibility

Applicants seeking Pensions with Aid and Attendance must be homebound and need the assistance of paid care givers to meet their daily needs.
A physician must confirm disability by signing a VA approved medical form.

Income Limits For VA Pension without Aid and Attendance

A smaller Pension is available for Veterans and Veterans’ Widows who meet the income criteria above and have low income levels specified below and need some assistance with daily activities but do not currently have paid caregivers on a regular basis.

This is a Veteran Pension (without Aid and Attendance).

Single Veterans may not receive more than $11,830 in gross income per year. The maximum pension amount they will receive is $985/month.

Married Veterans may not receive more than $15,493 in gross income per year. The maximum pension they will receive is $1,291/month.

Veterans’ Widows/Widowers ( who never re-married) may not receive more than $7,933 in gross income per year. The maximum pension they will receive is $661/month.
